Let’s talk about something that’s a little different today. Boots.
As locksmiths, we put in a lot of hours and so we’re constantly on our feet. We’re on our feet in all sorts of weather. Today we’re going talk about my 5.11 boots that I wear all the time. The 5.11 Tactile six inch Coyote boot. They’re water resistant. I promise, these boots are water proof because I’ve been in water in them and I still got my feet dry. These boots are over five years old. And I use them daily. I have two pairs of these boots, as I alternate them. I had to put in some inserts. They just seems to make your feet feel better. And they are super-comfortable.
I was heading to the Philippines and that place is hot and humid. It’s absolutely terrible on the feet. I’m not a flip flop person, because I like my feet protected so I can’t walk around with flip flops. These 5.11 Tactile six inch Coyote boots are meant for hot, humid, even desert environments. I wore these for almost ten weeks straight. Every single day, in the jungle, on the water, heading to little islands (if you saw, I was in McArthur Park where general McArthur landed). I went up the hill (a bunch of hills where they had to attack bunkers, Japanese-held bunkers). This 5.11 Tactile six inch Coyote boot what I had on my feet. Although I didn’t see any snakes, there’s lots of snakes there that are bad. But it was so hot, and these were absolutely fantastic. I wore them and so I thought next time I go down to Florida, Texas, I’m gonna be wearing these. These are my go-to boots now in the summer time. They’ve got this antibacterial stuff, and all sorts of bits and pieces. You can read about it online. These were super comfortable. I definitely recommend this. I’m heading back to Asia and I’m wearing these. I bought a second pair. I always like to alternate my shoes, so I’ll have these again, because they’re FANTASTIC.
However, I think the only downside, when I jumped off of a boat into the salt water, I got both wet, and it didn’t take that. It took probably about four hours in the sun to dry ’em out. And it kinda pissed me off a little bit. It means that it’s not meant to go in the water. You’re gonna get wet feet if you do that. Nevertheless, for 99% of what I did, these were absolutely fantastic. The water resistance might not be that good but, they’re so comfortable I don’t wanna add anything to them. So, if anybody has any good ideas on a boot that’s good for super hot, humid, almost desert-y jungle conditions, that has some water resistance, I’d be really interested in knowing because that’s the only downside of these boots. Other than that, 99.9% absolutely fantastic. Super super comfortable. I liked it so much that I bought a second pair. And again, this is different and nothing to do with locksmithing, but we gotta have comfortable feet. I hope you enjoyed watching this video. Subscribe to my channel. The customer was broken into in East Vancouver. The burglars just kicked the door in. Very common Break and Enter in Vancouver. You can see the door was broken and the cheap Off-Shore deadbolt just failed. Unfortunately, too many of these inexpensive deadbolts ($10-$45) are installed in Vancouver, sometimes on new condos and new buildings.
Mike from Mr. Locksmith Vancouver rather than replace the door he installed a Mag Plate / Door Reinforcer (doubles the strength of the door) and a new Schlage Deadbolt (B660) with the Commerical Grade C123 Key and Cylinder. The Schlage Deadbolt is one of our favorite deadbolts.
We call this our Vancouver Special. The door frame did not need a 18″ Strike Plate installed on the door frame because it was metal.

Hi, I’m Terry Whin-Yates from Mr. Locksmith. I have a Rant today. I’ve been dealing with scammer locksmiths for years and also, sometimes legitimate locksmith companies have copied my name, copied my websites, copied my blog, and copied my advertising. I expect it out of scammers, I don’t expect it out of other legitimate locksmiths.
The one main thing I’ve done to protect myself and my company is I have trademarked in North America my company name. As I expand or try to expand, when I get these scammers using my company name on fake addresses, I can deal with them very, very quickly with my trademark.
A few emails and letters off to Google, Facebook, Yelp, legitimate companies, I send them the information that this website or this company is infringing on my trademark. It is dealt with quickly. They remove the website, they remove the data, they remove the images.
So, even if you’re a little guy just starting out, one of the most important things I recommend is trademark your company. It can protect you against the scammer locksmiths. Also, when you get somebody who’s made a mistake and they copied your name because they think it’s cool, you can deal with them. If you have to, you can deal with them through the courts as well. The quick, easy way is your, is get your lawyer on it, give a “Cease and Desist” letter or Court order. It can be expensive but that’s what you have to protect your company.
So again, protect your company against the scammers, also protect it against other companies and get your company trademarked.

Below is more information on 3 common locksmith services:
Automobile Services
Automobile locksmiths are likewise available. These are also considered to be the rarest kind in the locksmith industry and that they have a special edge in their services. This is true because automobile locksmiths do not have an easy task to handle and that they handle different kind of brands and also have different complicated lock mechanisms which they need to learn. Residential Services
Residential locksmiths have a greater demand in the market as they secure the property and the in mates from break-ins and thefts. Majority of them are certified also. Many a times, people lock themselves out of their house, and in this regard, residential locksmiths are of great help. Apart from quick and reliable services, they are also amiable in nature. Taking their huge demand into consideration, many locksmiths nowadays are also offering 24*7 services. If even at the midnight you sleepwalk and lock yourself out of your house, there’s no need to worry, your local locksmith can help you get inside without letting you in much embarrassment. Commercial Services
Locksmiths offering commercial services have much more knowledgeable on different types of locks used for commercial structures. The locks used in offices, shops and schools are usually more sophisticated than those used on homes since they come with a variety of options such as timekeeping, attendance registering, personnel identification, and many more. These locks are also programmable for more secure after-hours measures. Since commercial services involve the installation, repair and modification of these locks, only companies trained in more complex jobs will be able to handle the requirements. People use locks for safety, for security, and for their peace of mind. However, on some unavoidable instances, you may lose your key or forget it inside your house or your vehicle. In such cases, you often turn to professional locksmiths. You finally have the door open. However, your worries might not end there. You may experience paranoia especially if you are not sure that you can trust your locksmith. Sadly, many vehicle and home owners in Calgary fall victims to these scammer locksmiths.
How does a scammer locksmith work?
Watch out for these signs and actions that are telltale signs that you are dealing with a scammer locksmith:
You saw an advertisement about ridiculously low-priced locksmith services via Google AdWords.
This advertisement also promises a ridiculously, lightning-flash response time as quick as 10 mins for night calls. When was the last time you could get anywhere is Vancouver in 10 mins let alone find parking?
The “locksmith” cannot provide a license.
Most often, such scammer locksmith service providers show up as results when you look up “locksmith Vancouver” on search engines.
They promised to be there in fifteen minutes or so but shows up hours later.
They show up with a drill and a hammer.
Then, they charge you with ridiculously expensive service fee to install an inferior cheap deadbolt.
When this happens, you will feel trapped. It seems like there is nothing else to do but to give in and pay the amount that the scammer locksmith asks for. Of course, you do not know how to put the lock together yourself so you will just pay the price of what you think was your mistake anyway. The problem is that these scam locksmiths are so bold that sometimes, they actually threaten you that they will call the police if you refuse to pay for their service.
Stay away from scammers
As much as possible, ask for recommendations for good locksmith service providers. If possible, ask for recommendations from people that you can also trust. Also, do not rely on what you read on online advertisements. It is also important to stay away from offers that just sound too good to be true because chances are; they really are too good to be true. You should also ask the locksmith to provide license information or actually ask the locksmith to show you his license.
Aside from the license, you should also ask for the final price of their services. The company should also offer you some kind of an agreement or a contract before closing the deal. There is no way that the locksmith will not be able to provide a final price because as an expert, all that the locksmith should need is the information of the make and model of the car, and the information about where your house or your vehicle is. These should be enough to know how much providing the service will cost them.
Once the locksmith arrives, always check if he arrives in a marked vehicle because he should.
On the other hand, a real pro has a license, insurance, works with a contract, and definitely an expert.

]]>Patrick installed a B560 deadbolt on a non-security file room door. The deadbolt provides better security than a keyed entrance set (kik: key in knob).
This installation is suitable for the specific case where the files content is not sensitive. For sensitive files we would have installed a Schlage B660 deadbolt with Primus High security cylinder. The B660 is UL listed for pic and drill resistance.
If you’re adding a deadbolt lock to your home or business in, we will be happy explain the difference between each type of deadbolt lock and will recommend which deadbolt lock is best suited for your home, business or situation.
